In situations where a single parent lives with someone outside of marriage, that person may be referred to as a co parent. Co-parent is also the name given to the partner in a homosexual relationship who shares the household and parenting responsibilities with a childs legal adoptive or biological parent.

The home which was owned by the family prior to a divorce or separation is referred to as the family home in many state laws. In court settlements of divorce and child custody issues, the sale of the family home may be prohibited as long as the minor children are still living there with the custodial parent. The sale of the home may be permitted (or required to pay the noncustodial parent his or her share of its value) if the custodial parent moves or remarries, or when the children leave home to establish their own residences.

The term extended family traditionally meant the biological relatives of a nuclear family; i.e., the parents, sisters, and brothers of both members of a married couple. It was sometimes used to refer to the people living in the household beyond the parents and children. As family relationships and configurations have become more complex due to divorce and remarriage, extended family has come to refer to all the biological, adoptive, step-, and half-relatives.

Government agencies and other statistics-gathering organizations use the term head of household to refer to the person who contributes more than half of the necessary support of the family members (other than the spouse); in common usage, the head of household is the person who provides primary financial support for the family.

The continuity of issues is interesting. Of greater interest, however, is what is not discussed in the contemporary literature in the area.. Few, if any, of the modern commentaries mention the impact of sport and recreation on the environment and the laws response to this impact. That is a significant omission because sporting and recreational activity is as much controlled by law as any other social behaviour. A simple example is the effect of a sports stadium which raises such issues as: the size and design of the stadium and its surrounding infra-structure; noise; traffic; drunken behaviour; crime; vendors; littering; advertising. This paper, then, will focus on the role of environmental protection laws and will use as a model the development of golf courses and golf estates as golf is seen as both a sport and a recreational activity. Golf courses, and especially golf resorts, are man-made re-arrangements of the natural environment. Therefore construction and maintenance of a golf course must conform to the range of modern laws which attempt to ensure that environmental issues are addressed from the outset and that the impact on the environment is monitored constantly. The challenge is to integrate environmental considerations into sustainable development. The argument will be that the environmental issues raised by sport and recreation are matters of global concern. While examples will be drawn from around the world most attention will be paid to the Republic of South Africa.
The surveys were completed by more than 85 parents of children with disabilities (ages six through 18), in 20 states, who take part in sports or recreation. The author of the survey and manager of Gillettes rehabilitation services, Judy Miller, comments, We encourage our patient to get involved in recreational activities. Sports are not for everyone, but it can be a great way for many kids with disabilities to stay physically healthy and to feel good about themselves. Being involved in wheelchair racing has kept the boys healthy and has helped them to be more self-sufficient. Both boys were born with spina bifida. Ben, now 17, took part in his first road race at the age of four, using a hand-peddled bicycle. Later, he switched to a standard wheelchair, until the people in his home town raised money to buy Ben a specialized racing chair. Today, he competes in road races and track meets on the national and international levels. His 13-year-old brother, Nick, is also busy developing his own racing talents.

Despite an industry upheaval and two gravely ill sons, this health-care entrepreneur discovered the prescription for perseverance. Sadly, looming business woes were the least of the Langdons worries that year. In the summer of 1996, at age three, their son Spencer–twin brother of Tyler–was diagnosed with leukemia, warranting three years of chemotherapy and approximately $1,000 worth of medication each month. Faced with circumstances that would obliterate the future goals of most, the Langdons didnt fold, but instead expanded ATPs services to override the Medicare massacre. Making ATP a onestop shop by adding outpatient rehab to its services was the ultimate goal, but first the Langdons had to move the company out of their Carrboro, North Carolina, home (situated in a bedroom, no less) and into a Hillsborough, North Carolina, office complex. To Ted, outpatient was ATPs salvation. I really started seeing the effects [of the Balanced Budget Act] in 1997, says Ted, 33. Medicare-based agencies were laying off staff, and the first people to go were with contract companies. If they didnt go Out of business or merge with other corporations, agencies drastically reduced their pay rates to contract companies, lowering the therapists wages. Some just didnt pay at all–like House Calls, a statewide home-health agency in North Carolina whose owner was nabbed for allegedly double-billing his way to Medicare/Medicaid fraud in 1997. I tried everything I could to retrieve [the $14,000 House Calls owed], but they were sued by everyone, says Ted. They had everything frozen, and I wa s so far down on the lawsuit list that, basically, I never got paid.

We are living in a world where–at least with respect to campaigns against injustice–whales are of greater importance than women. Daily discrimination and violence against women is on the increase everywhere in the world. At least 14 per cent of European women are suffering beatings from the same man who used to kiss her. Not for nothing does the UN in its Millennium Development Goals place a strong emphasis on gender equality, maternal health, education of girls and land rights for women. Many of the old rules and limitations no longer apply to this new form of marketing, which seeks to talk with, rather than at, the reader. At last count, the Internet links some 46,318 computer networks at sites in 91 countries worldwide. More than half (27,614) the networks are in the United States; not surprisingly, some 20% of these are in California. According to the Internet Domain Survey, conducted in January 1995 by Net Wizards, some 4,852,000 host computers were linked to the Internet. The greatest percentage of these computers were being used in business (27%) and education (23%). The Internet Society estimates an average of 10 users per host. Total users on the net are approaching 50 million, with another million or so getting connected monthly.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Internet presents both opportunities and challenges for marketers of healthcare products. An advocate for the medium argues for its increasing value in a comprehensive media mix, offers advice on how to make programs more productive, and cautions on Internet pitfalls. The magical wedding date of the year — 07/07/07 — has passed us by, but to those who figure in figures when setting the date for a special occasion, all is not lost.
When the previous statement on foreign exchange was discussed at the Accounting Practices Committee we were of the view that the statement should include a definition of the date of the transaction due to the confusion surrounding this concept. We consulted with our legal colleagues and were informed that, if an order was placed for goods or services, the date the order was accepted was the date of the transaction. We attempted to get this entrenched in the statement but failed at the APB level. After much confusion, it was generally agreed that the cost of the inventory in the above example would be R65O if no cover contract was entered into or if cover was taken but hedge accounting was not permitted. It was also generally agreed that if cover was taken and hedge accounting was permitted, the cost of the inventory would be R6oo (the spot rate at the date the deal was made) plus RS (being the cost of the premium attributable to the inventory, i.e. Ri5-Rio) or R6o5. Then along came AC 133 with its embedded derivative in a host supply contract concept. It stated that if the deal was done in a currency that was not the currency of one of the parties to the transaction and the product subject to the transaction was not routinely bought and sold in the currency in which the transaction was entered into, there was an embedded derivative in the contract that had to be separated from the host contract. In the above situation, the embedded derivative would have been a liability of R45 (R6,6o - R6,is). The only way that could understand this concept was to see the embedded derivative liability as an expression of sadness that the deal was entered into in dollars and not in Rand. If the Rand went the other way, it would have been an asset, i.e. an expression of happiness. (A banker once asked me jokingly if he could lend money to a company based on the value of its embedded derivatives in its supply contracts!)

In response to Matthew Youngs editorial in the last issue of The Diabetic Foot: When is a diabetes specialist podiatrist not a DSP?, it is most encouraging to note the level of support from diabetes consultants who are advocates for podiatry throughout the UK. The role of the podiatrist in the multiprofessional diabetes team is well recognised and the valuable contribution of the podiatrist to diabetic foot care has been measured and reported in the literature. With the publication of the International Consensus Document (IWGDF, 1999) and, more recently, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network for Diabetes (SIGN, 2001) and the National Service Framework far Diabetes: Standards (DoH, 2001 a, b), the standards for diabetic foot care are now clear and universally available. To achieve these standards, the following must be available to deliver the care that patients deserve:

No single podiatrist or other member of the healthcare team in the UK can deliver effective care for any people with diabetes in isolation from their multidisciplinary team. The medical and nursing champions of such teams have been and remain our greatest allies. There are now a number of centres of excellence across the UK where dedicated and established multidisciplinary clinics exist. The emergence of multidisciplinary foot teams was evident ten years ago–Kings College Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary were putting on regular foot conferences and The Diabetic Foot Journal was starting up as the enthusiastic new kid on the block. The dissemination of ideas and inspiration from the established pioneers mentioned above was resulting in the emergence of more NHS podiatrists and podiatry posts being linked to diabetes. The team in Salford published their experience of setting up an integrated approach, directly linking their hospital team to specialist clinicians based in that strange and scary place–the community setting. Diabetes-specialist podiatrist posts were being advertised every month in our professional journals.

Many of the trucks you see on the roads today are insured on one of three commercial auto insurance contracts: the truckers form, the motor carrier form or the business auto form. The truckers form is used for firms hauling only goods owned by others. The motor carrier form insures firms hauling both their own goods and the goods of others. The business auto form is used to cover firms hauling only goods that they own. The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), promulgates all three contracts. We will discuss the exclusions under the business auto policy and how to provide coverage for the excluded risks. To do so, we will consider several examples. In a fictitious example, MBF Corp.s (MBF) annual planning conference was going to be held at a mountain lodge. Conference attendees from all over the country would need to fly into a nearby town, rent four-wheel drive vehicles and drive about 20 miles to the lodge. The last five miles of the route required four-wheel drive vehicles because there was no pavement, only a trail created by vehicles driving over the mountain terrain. In spots, this trail was steep and in other places it was steeply slanted to one side or the other.
Speaking of tire kicking, the United Auto Group crew has checked out the vacant Home Quarters project in west Little Rock. We understand they were looking at the possibility of redeveloping the 11.5-acre property on Chenal Parkway as an auto outlet. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to sell its algins food ingredients business. In 1998, these businesses had combined sales of $1 billion. Proceeds from the sales of these businesses will be used to pay down debt, Monsanto said. This divestiture is part of a restructuring plan announced by Monsanto last November that includes selling businesses that are not core to its long-term strategy. Since that time, the company has announced its intent to sell Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Co., and its algins business, and has completed divestitures of the Ortho lawn-and-garden business, NSC Technologies and the Wellbridge health and fitness business.

Health Alliance Medical Plans last month announced its coverage of two over-the-counter drugs formerly available by prescription only: Wyeths Alavert and Procter Gambles Prilosec OTC. Health Alliance will require members who have prescription drug benefits to obtain a written prescription from their physicians for the new over-the-counter drugs in order to receive coverage. Following the ILO standards, the employed population is defined as persons who during one week did any work for pay or profit for at least one hour, or were not working but had jobs from which they were temporarily absent. An important aspect of economic performance is how the resources are utilised, human capital being societys main resource. Consequently, the employment rate and its development are crucial both for economic growth and social cohesion. The Lisbon European Council stated that more and better jobs should be created and the overall target was to increase the employment rate to 70% by 2010. An intermediate goal for the employment rate was to reach 67% by January 2005. In addition, the re-launching of the Lisbon Strategy by the European Council in 2005, following the mid-term review of the Strategy, has put even more importance and focus on growth and employment.
Employment Job growth is beginning to keep pace with the regions expanding working-age population.

Hard as it is to believe, the beautiful and delicate wings of the monarch carry this butterfly from as far north as Canada as it heads toward Mexico every fall, travelling thousands of miles. While the scientific community puzzles over how a creature that weighs only half a gram can make such a treacherous journey, the backyard conservationist can simply enjoy these colorful visitors every fall and spring. Monarchs in the 39 states east of the Rockies swarm toward isolated mountain ranges in Mexico. Roosting in large clumps, monarchs cover the trees in a blanket of orange and black — a sight that may be familiar to those who live along the coast of California. Monarchs west of the Rockies forgo the trip to Mexico, content with the warm Pacific coast. One thing naturalists struggle to understand is how the monarchs return to the same trees every year. Most monarchs die when they reach the central United States; it is actually their offspring that complete the journey.

SOUTH JORDAN — The 2004 Utah Horse Expo will be held this weekend at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Center in South Jordan. The event will feature seminars, horse shows, horse trainers and experts along with the latest in horse products and services. The Horse Expo will be open today, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
She said the affected horses are showing no symptoms. The center includes 17 barns housing 400 racehorses. Only one barn was affected.

THE new Jeep Wrangler was part of a multi-model assault on the Detroit motor-show by Daimler-Chrysler. Along with the Europe-bound Calibre, the new Jeep Compass and the exciting Dodge Challenger, the Jeep Wrangler showed that Daimler- Chrysler is truly alive and kicking. This one may make reappearance as it is the first Wrangler to get a diesel option. No word on what kind or when its due out though.
A MAN caused EUR1,500 of damage when he drove his jeep wildly across the lawns of NINE neighbours as part of a drunken dare. Neil Browne, 23, of Station Road, Carrigans, Co Donegal, left track marks after going berserk last December. He was fined fined EUR75 for each of the nine charges.
